Hi guys i have a bad feeling i have been somehow hacked.

I just noticed my phone emails/pay pal app going crazy. To find 183.48 has been spent on **** not even on my own account.

I at one point a long time ago, set up and then candled EA origin early access thingy majig. This ended up being set as a pre approved vendor so i could easily pay in the future if i desired.

Cut to today what did i just buy someone?

One payment for £3.99 with no notification on paypal or my emails as to what it is.
One payment for £35.99 for a copy of For Honor Standard edition
One payment for £35.99 for Ghost recon wildlands ( i already own this )
Three payments for £35.65 for 3x Ultima Online 6 month Game time code.

I have changed my paypal password.. But interestingly all of these payments continued. That's when i dissaproved EA as approved. I have opened a claim in paypal. But trying to get in contact with EA is a nightmare apparently.

Any advice appreciated.

I would like to add that none of these have gone onto my account. So it's being paid for to another account. Via my pay pal seemingly without needing the password.

EA customer support is great mate, get on one of the live chat things, both me and Baz have had to use them in the past, I can't fault them in the slightest. I don't use Paypal so I'm unable to offer any other help on that front

Waited on ea live chat for 2 hours and got nothing.

Just phoned the bank to try and block the transaction from going through my bank and been told to call back in the morning for the specific department that only works in the morning.

Going to work though so can't stay on waiting for live chat.

Sorry to hear that mate, hope you get it back, Thieving scum

Worth checking for pre-approved payments on your paypal account, and cancel any related to origin/ea... at least it won't happen again while you chase a refund.

(login to paypal, click the gear/cog icon in the top right, click payments and manage pre-approved payments - see what's in your list, select any you don't want and cancel them).

Already cancelled it and everything else on pre approved.

I think they exploited that system somehow.

Won't be using PayPal after this is cleared up.

Small update, got in touch with the bank again this morning and had a chat with a lovely man named Richard. He has put a " block " on any transactions going out from pay pal as soon as they request any money it will be denied. And have been assured a refund if anything does happen to go out.

Now to get in touch with paypal and origin again.

Do you have the account id that the purchases went to in your Paypal transaction? Might be worth having a look before speaking to EA.

Nope, no mention of an account they are going to, and no receipts to my email. Just what they bought, an order ID and amount.

Sorry but I think you are doing this all wrong. You don't need to 'get in touch' with anyone, just go to the payments in paypal and raise a dispute in there. That is it, they'll stop the payments and refund you, usually within 24 hours, often quicker.

e: I speak from experience of this happening to me.

EA should be able to trace the ID to an account to prove it's not you who's bought them.

It's all there for backup :)

one of the first things i did, im just trying to set up fallback options. :)

When you agree to pre-approved payments on your paypal account it means the vendor can take payments without authorisation from you. Its the same when you sign up for something like when Amazon Prime was free, at the end of the month free trial they can take the full amount without asking you. Or if you sign up to a £1 for three months offer with your debit card if you dont tell them to cancel or remove it they take the fourth month full price as they dont need pre-authorisation.
