Hmm, a full HPI check shows some anomalies with the mileage in 2006/2007:

This completes the test history for the above vehicle as recorded on VOSA's MOT Computerisation Database

The chap had no idea what it was about as his HPI check from 3 years ago was clear, which he showed me. He was a very genuine guy who really cared for the bike, so I think this news was surprising and a bit disappointing for him. Thoughts?

Such a shame, other than that it's a fantastic example. I would have still bought it with another 10k on the clock.

He had no idea, his HPI check was clear and the bike was his baby.

I suppose this may give him the ammunition needed to convince his girlfriend that he shouldn't sell, so it may end up being good for him.

Hmm, none of the MOT history (quoted in full above) has anything about an odometer change.

That 13 to 10.6 to 10 is based on different sources. The values I type into the HPI check for mileage show up as NMR, so I could put 50,000 miles in today and it would add a new line for the 24th with 50,000 miles.

It's the 13 to 10 in the picture and the mileage change from 17 to 9 in the MOT history that's weird.

I genuinely don't think the guy knew about this.

It would have happened 3 years before he bought his bike and he has his HPI check document which shows the all clear, his MOT certificates only show the last 4 MOT mileages recorded (all incremental), and he didn't get FSH with the bike.

Well the condition of the bike really is excellent. A rusty bolt or two is about all I could find wrong with it.

I've got until Thursday to decide, I reckon it would be between 20-25K miles if it was clocked. I think my biggest concern is actually how it would affect resale value.

Haha, I used to be an underboss when I had more free time.

I think I'm leaning towards spending 1K on something from a trader that just runs, as I'll be chucking it in 6 months anyway.

Well I have my Swiss bike sorted, just need to choose a UK one!

My girlfriend and her brother surprised me with this (don't worry, I still I have to pay for it!) on Satuirday!

350KM later and my cheeks hurt from grinning.
