Are you set on Nvidia cards only?

I ask as I've just bought the XFX R9 290 (AMD) that is on offer @ OCUK, down to £199.99 and 3 free games, also has a custom cooler, so quieter and cooler running than reference coolers :)

Ha, is it that simple then? Thanks guys.

I'm not set on Nvidia completely, but I have had Nvidia cards for years now so I just stick with what I know. My last "AMD" card was an ATI X850 from 2005!

It looks like the price is now £229.99 for that XFX R9 290?

Have a read here, opening post by Gibbo, you need to put in the code when asked for in the checkout screens, then refresh the page, it's then £199.99, just did this about an hour ago :)

As above, if you're set on the nvidia cards then 780 is the way to go.. but out of the 3 id go 290 for £200 :D

What is the rest of your system and what res do you game at bud?

Also, what games do you play and intend on playing? This is quite important, as both AMD and nVidia have proprietary techs for several games.

290 is slightly quicker more often than not, but it's swings and roundabouts and you'd probably never notice the difference anyway :)
Tomb Raider can be found pretty cheap, so I'd remove that from the eqaution.

I agree that the custom cooled 290 is a little better than the reference cooled 780, but a custom cooled 780 if you can find one cheap enough is a little better again.
