.

Here's what I've planned so far:
Motherboard: MSI X99A SLI PLUS
CPU: Intel Core i7 5820K
CPU Cooler: Hyper212 EVO
RAM: HyperX Fury DDR4 2666MHz 16GB (2x 8GB) x2 (32GB)
GPU: Asus GeForce Strix GTX 970 - 4GB
PSU: Super Flower Leadex Gold 850W
Case: Fractal R5
Optical Drive: ?
OS: Windows 10
HDD1 (OS & Apps): Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
HDD2 (Working Drive): Samsung 850 EVO 250GB

A few questions:

1 - Do I need an optical drive to install windows? I have a USB drive for a laptop I could use if needed, or can I install via USB?

2 - Any issues with component compatibility?

Cheers.

Changes made:
- Swapped PSU
- Quad kit RAM
- Swapped GPU to R9 390 as it will work much better with Sony Vegas
- Swapped CPU cooler for one with better compatibility and cooling so I can overclock

Updated spec:
Motherboard: MSI X99A SLI PLUS
CPU: Intel Core i7 5820K
CPU Cooler: Noctura DH-D15
RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY DDR4 32GB 4-Kit 2666MHz, Black 4x 8GB
GPU: MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming 8G
PSU: EVGA EVGA SUPERNOVA 850 G2 80 PLUS
Case: Fractal R5
OS: Windows 10
HDD1 (OS & Apps): Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
HDD2 (Working Drive): Samsung 850 EVO 250GB

Any final thoughts? I might go for a cheaper SSD as it's only a temporary working drive for my video editing.

What's king of the thermal pastes these days? It was MX5 when I built my last machine!

Much appreciated.

The Samsung Evo's are pretty cheap in my country, about 15% less than in the UK and less than the BX100's.
