The creators behind the award-winning German series DARK, which received praise and excited fans around the world, have kicked off production for their next and highly anticipated show: “1899”

The eight episodes follow the mysterious circumstances around the voyage of an immigrant ship from Europe to New York. The passengers, all of different backgrounds and nationalities, are united by their hopes and dreams for a new century and their future abroad. When they discover a second ship adrift on the open sea that had gone missing for months, their journey takes an unexpected turn. What they find on board will turn their passage to the promised land into a nightmare-like riddle, connecting each of the passenger’s pasts through a web of secrets.

Watched the first episode last night and so many questions that I already want answers for, if it wasn't so late when I finished it I would have gone into episode 2 but it's one that requires your full attention to pick up the little details, definitely going to try getting the rest of it finished over the weekend.

Got it binged yesterday and enjoyed this, not as much as Dark but it scratched that itch for me. Was not expecting that ending at all and hopefully they renew it as the writer / director has a 3 season plan in mind.
Does make you wonder why they put them in there instead of hypersleep? Maybe to keep their brains active, season 2 if we get it hopefully answers those questions and I wonder who they will cast as her brother as we never saw him.
