Tuesday 18th:
Milan vs Barcelona - My sources tell me these two teams are pretty decent apparently. One to watch perhaps lads!

Thursday 20th:
Steaua vs Middlesbruff - Oh yeah, them. Best of luck 'boro. :)
and Schalke vs Sevilla - Insert perfunctory comment here.

aaaaand Wednesday 19th:
Arsenal vs Villareal - Larger, colored text is cunningly used to denote importance.

Likely line-up for tomorrow:

Mad Jens
Flamini
Super Kolo
Senderos
Eboueboueboueboue
Pires
Giblet
The Mighty Fabregas
Hleb
Ljundberg
Thierry "off to Barca" Henry

Subs bench (probably): Aluminium, The Old Dutch Master, The New Dutch Master, Diaby, Walcott

Should be a cracker. We've got a fantastic chance to make the final, BUT we really cannot think like that at all. Aston Villareal could well actually be the toughest team we've faced so far, so even though we go in favourites, with a fantastic european form and record, we've got to hope the lads don't act like they're guaranteed a win, especially with the first game being at home. We got an easy group stage, and although we played brilliantly against Juve and Madrid, both of them did flatter us somewhat by being pretty damn dire, and the guys we play tomorrow are going to be much more like us - faltering in the league, but with a hungry side giving it their all in the CL. Not get a decent result tomorrow and a tired team is going to have a lot to do in Spain next week. A win is essential quite frankly, and hopefully by more than one goal to give us a less nervy second leg. The trouble is though, with the visit of the dirty heathen spuds on Saturday, we've got three incredibly important games in the space of seven days, and we need to be on top form for all them. Crunch time! I'm as nervous as ever, but I'll be proud of the team whatever we manage now. :D

And because it wouldn't be a proper footy thread without a FACT  - Should Henry score tomorrow (here's hoping!), it'll mark his 50th goal in 100 European games. Not a bad tally that.

Who would you rather face in the play-offs Gilly? (although you do end up playing two out of three of them anyway)

Good goal by Barca. Excellent through-ball by Ronnaldeano (or so the ITV commentator (not Pleat is it by any chance?) calls him), and very nicely taken finish. Milan have it all to do now, and they're still not exactly trying too hard. I realise I'll get jumped on by BoomAM or Nedved for saying it, but the Italian teams have really crumbled under decent pressure in Europe.

Drop me an email closer to the Wigan game and I'll see if I can get you a special programme if you want, it's a £5 for that game.
Cheers dude, that would be much appreciated indeed. :)

Hopefully now I should actually have a decent amount of money to my name, and the new stadium having far more seats, I might actually be able to make the odd game next season. Might get one for Dennis's testimonial.

Eeeeeeee crap it's close.

They've had just as many chances as we've had, and they've been more disciplined than us at the back, but we did look the more likely to score. In all fairness it should be level, but who gives a flying fig about fairness at this point.

COME ON LADS!

Also, how can you say they've had just as many chances as us? We've had 9 shots to their 3 and 2 of them were from free kicks. I can only remember them having one chance from open play and we've had quite a few.
Chances was the wrong word, I apologise. I meant that they'd been equal in possesion and had pressured us as much as we them, but we'd had more chances (as we were playing quicker than them).

Second half was more our way, but they were tough to break down. Fair play to them, they'd obviously done their research and stayed tight at the back and kept Fabregas very quiet. I'm incredibly nervous about going there with only a 1-0 lead though, regardless of who they are and how they play. Still, keeping the clean sheet was definitely a good thing.

Oh, and very good reffing for that. Other than the pen shout, I don't think he made a mistake otherwise, since the linesmen were at fault for the offsides really.

Well done lads, halfway there. :)

Sky made it sound like a 1-0 win was a bad result, Personally I think a clean sheet and a goal is a very good result....
Sky annoyed me no end on commentary tonight. They seemed to think that because we didn't walk Villa(real) that we must therefore have been playing terribly. But not only have they been stupidly flattering to us (we're not the best team ever, we just had three very good games against two big teams), it's also pretty disrespectful to a very decent Spanish side. Not the flashiest or most attacking no, but solid, organised and aware. They might not have won many games to get here, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve.

But yeah, I thought we were still good, and the better side of the two, so to call us rubbish like they did was stupid.
