18th B/D in 2 weeks, need a new monitor

Hey everyone,

Well birthday in 2 weeks and parents asked me what I need. Well I told them a hot lady friend or a monitor. They chose to get me a monitor. (Damn them)

So I think they will spend about £350 on a monitor. I'm looking for something bigish and with a very good screen for gaming on.

I was looking at the Dell 2005 20" widescreen but as we know OcUK had to put the price up. So I am still considering this but I won't get it from here. (Sorry :( )

So is there anything that is better than the Dell for £350?

EDIT:: At the moment I am using my 32" Samsung and my graphics card is a X800 XT PE clocked to a X850.
 
you could look at the Belinea 102035W or Philips 200W6CS which are both very popular right now and wel priced. These are more responsive screens than the ageing Dell 2005FPW and should be more suited to gaming. If you can strrech a bit then the NEC LCD20WGX2 and Viewsonic VX2025WM are both very good too. Really wanna know when the 2025 is released and also when the 7900's are out :P
 
Sorry guys, some issues with the site at the moment for some reason. Working on it. The VX2025WM is available for pre order on OcUK, not sure when it's officially available though
 
Don't realy want to pre-order something that doesn't have a release sate set. Darn. It looks like a nice monitor.

I think I will wait for it.
 
Come on people lol. I need to know. Is the 2025 the best 20" money can buy or should I wait or is there a better monitor? :p
 
well, it's good. Hard to say what is the best as there are so many nice models emerging in this area at the moment. The NEC LCD20WGX2, Philips 200W6CS, Belinea 102035W, Viewsonic VX2025WM are all very popular right now. The NEC gets some fantastic reviews all round really and is a very nice screen. The only drawbacks (to some people) are the glossy reflective screen (some like it, some dont) and the movie playback which is quite 'noisy' (but then a lot of modern screens are anyway). There are of course other models coming out soon, including the Dell 2007WFP and no doubt a new Samsung offering. You COULD wait since this is a rapidly growing sector right now, but there are some nice ones to choose from!

Any ideas on how much the Dell 2007 will be and is it going to have backlight issues if its basicly the same screen?

If its more then £400 I think I will get the 2025 as is seems good.
 
impossible to tell, but wouldnt be surprised if it was ~£50 more than the current 2005FPW for initial release. As far as backlight issues, again, we cant tell at this stage. However since the issues are down to build quality it is at least likely that this will be very different since the whole design of the screen has changed (looks like the 3007WFP now). Also, Dell are WELL aware of the issues the 2005FPW has caused and i would really hope the would have made sure this replacement was better :)

darn, well wont be getting that then. I have this thing with black. Everything electronic has to be black. Makes it stand out more. Yes I am a total g33k lol
 
How come I can't find any info on the Samsung 215TW?

All I can find on google is that it looks black. Just going to fin if I can find the specs for it.
