19" Monitor and 1080i question

Is it possiable to view 1080i from a PS3 on a pc monitor (19") which only has a max res as 1280 x 1024?

Also if I ran 720p on the same monitor would I get a black window look across the top and bottom or will it be scaled up?

1080i is 1920x1080 so no, it's not possible, as far 720p not being stretched, that will depend on the monitor.

1080p on my 22" 2048 x 1536 monitor doesn't work too well as it doesn't quite fit the screen. So no you can not get 1080p on a 19". 720p will work as it is under 1280 x 1024.

You will need to use 1:1 pixel mapping or crush the image to fit the screen in 720p.

Ok so if I used 720p then because my res is 1280 x 1024 then that would mean I’d have black horizontal borders because it's max 1024 but its 720 if you get what I mean.

that would normally be the case, but depends on the aspect ratio realy of the source. 1080i/p would be fine to ouput to the screen anyway, but it would be scaled down as the res isn't high enough to truly show the full 1080 lines
