ive been reading loads of posts for Widescreen LCD Monitors but i still cant decide what to go for .
ive been looking at these 3 monitors :

Acer AL1916W 19" Widescreen £187.94
Acer AL2016Ws 20" Widescreen £287.82
Belinea 102035W 20.1" Widescreen £328.94

ive got a 17" lcd monitor at the moment and ive decided to get a Widescreen one. i play a lot of games so which is a good monitor to play them on?
are the 20" monitors worth paying the extra £££?
thanks

I currently have a 19" standard ratio monitor. But if I were to get a new one I'd probably be looking at a w/s one. It depends on the games you play. If they are older games then stay with standard ration. But most newer games look like they will support w/s.

Id go for the 16" as £100 for an extra inch is far too much... this isnt the porn industry :P

It's not just an extra inch, it's 453,280 more pixels ;):p

Seriously though, a 20" monitor will go very nicely with your lovely x1800, it's a good card, why not use it to its full potential :)

There have been many good comments on the Belinea, i would go for that one. I'm hoping to get it in the near future as well.

I tried a Viewsonic 19"WS for a few days and sent it back. While great for games (most support the odd 1440x900) it was a pain in Windows with the big loss in vertical resolution over my old 1280x1024 17". I spent the extra for the 20" Belinea and it was worth it. I can play games at a higher res (and also use 1280, 1440 modes with no noticeable loss of clarity) and the windows/document/browsing is so much better with the extra vertical resolution.
Mine also has no dead pixels and no backlight bleed (unless you turn the brightness right up and sit in a dark room!).
Remember most people generally tend to hold onto a monitor over a number of upgrades so it is always worth spending a little more to plan ahead.

thanks for the input, ive been thinkig of getting the Belinea 102035W its just that ive seen loads of mixed review for this monitor :p

Good choice, I bought one and ingame its great and you actually see a bit more of the game. Theres a sight somewhere that compares normal and widescreen.
Takes a bit of getting used too but I came from crt world :)
Backlight bleed , i have a little but only see it when my game is loading up and booting the pc up, other than that its not noticable.
Very bright out the box and the picture is crisp and clear.
You wont regret it.

Personally, I would wait for the new 20" widescreen Viewsonic - the VX2022W. The AL1916W and AL2016Ws are both TN, which means poor viewing angles and poor black depth. The Belinea has an MVA panel but it has the backlight bleed issue. The Viewsonic should be the same panel as in the Belinea (on paper it's rated better than the Belinea btw) but hopefully put together better.

As long as it's under £400 it should be worth the extra over the Belinea.

Belinea.

 Theres nothing wrong with the build quality. I went out to look at some screens before i bought this and most of the others had wobbly buttons and wobbly stands. This has neither. And as for backlight issues, that only affected some people not all.

Hi...yep have to agree with happyjoe, i recieved my new philips 200W6CS yesterday, and have to say it's absolutely superb, one of the best purchases i've made in a longtime...well chuffed with it :-)
