19" or 20"

Hey guys.

I just wanted a little input from anyone out there who has spent time using both 19" and 20" widescreen lcd monitors.

How did you find text-sizes on both screens? I was just thinking along the lines of maybe a 19" with the smaller resolution of 1440x900 would make for easier reading.

Related to that, have you found the extra desktop real-estate offered by the jump to 1680x1050 to be useful?

I went from a 19" standard to a 20" wide and the difference is fantastic. Text is still perfectly readable, but everything looks clearer and crisper. You also get a lot more space on-screen to use, so it's easier to have multiple windows open.

20 inch definitely has a better res for gaming imo

Chosing 20" opens up a range of higher quality non-TN panel screens, although they cost more of course. About half the 20" screens are TN, but all the 19" ones are TN. PVA/MVA/IPS give you better viewing angles and colours.

more than you could imagine, 1440 is claustrophobic at best.
