Hi,

Just a quick and very simple question I am sure for those of you who deal with racks.

I have just bought a Norco case and they have thrown in sliding rails foc. The thing is that the rails are 18" and most of the racks I see are listed as 19".

What dimension does the 18" or 19" refer to and are the 18" rails really of any use for a server chassis 650mm deep ?.

Many thanks
RB

All racks are 19" wide from vertical rail to rail. The dimension is probably front to back which differs from rack to rack.

Racks over here are around 500 quid for the size I need (800mm depth). Bit too pricey for home use.

Either the Lack mounting or using the metal shelving for mounting are much more likely and the Lack gets the wife approval factor a bit easier and is cheaper to boot.

The Enterprise Lack rack mounting system seems interesting :D.

Wow, just amazing.
I don't even have any rack mountable equipment at home, but want some now.
I have a side table type thing to keep my PC's off the floor, I'm going to measure this up tonight, If it fits rack shelves I can then stash my router, switch, xbox and wii under it.

The other awesome thing of note from ikea is the signum cable tidy which you can just screw in under your desk, I have 2 linked together as my desk is pretty long.

Thanks, will have to look in to the cable tidys.

Tidy cables are wife friendly cables (almost as much as hidden cables) ;).
