Hi, I'm now looking to get a HD TV, but a small one as my wage isnt good. I've seen a nice samsung one on OCUK but it 19". Can you put these on a wall mount and will in be big enough for a viewing range of 2-3.5m?

Hmmm it totally depends on the person

My 20" Samsung 205BW I cant sit any more than 1.5 meters away or its just feels too far away and I cant see everything properly

I just moved from a 19" to a 26" screen. Its huge in comparison. Personally, I thought the 19" was too small for viewing 2-3 metres away. I would always have to sit up close for gaming to make out the finer details. It did a good job as a PC monitor though.

about 37" to 42" is recommended for 9ft to 11.5ft with SD...about 5ft to 8ft with HD signals.

I have my dell 24" widescreen PC monitor wall mounted and it is far to small for a 10ft viewing distance for gaming or movies..

How about one of these below
OcUK Hanns-G JT261 26" HD Ready LCD TV - Silver £289.99
OcUK Yusmart 32" HDTV with built in Speakers - Black £369.99

Whats your budget ??

But surely its about the room size? abit pointless having a 26"+ tv in a small room isnt it? I'm currently running my 360 off my old pc monitor which is only 16.4inch viewable. Its not the best but far from terrible. Going to get a 22" or 20" screen for xmas and that should be PLENTY for my room :)

^^ thats what im thinking too, i wouldnt probably go as far as 26" myself and would look at 23" HDTV's however its only like £50-75 difference between say a 23" and a 26" HDTV. probably worth the extra few inches.
i too wondered if 19" was worthwhile for a 360, as currently i run a massive 22" Diamondtron Mitsubishi for the 360, and i'd rather have a all-in-one for the TV/360/PC

I'm in exactly the same situation.

Just bout a 26" mirai for my room, lovely TV but just too big, i sit about 1 metre away max when watching films/playing 360. I sent it back and plan on buying the fujitsu 22" monitor, it has two vga inputs so it'll serve the purpose of 360 through vga and extended desktop for my pc.

I've seen 20" wides in the shops and stood about a metre away and it was fine, the extra 2" on the fujitsu should be more or less perfect.

Besides in 3-4 years when the new xbox is being announced and hdmi will be a requirement a £210 investment NOW makes more sense as it wont hurt when you want to buy a larger more feature complete set.

Just my opinion though.

well i just recently broughht ocuk yusmart 32" and couldnt be more happy with it yeah its big for my small room but doesnt take a lot of space and handy when you have a lot of friends round to play split screen .

No, much too small. If you can't afford a bigger one, save up until you can :)

Totally depends how far away you're sitting.

I sit about 12ft away from my 42" plasme and sometimes feel like moving the couch closer, whereas I sit 2ft away from, my 19" PC screen and thats plenty big enough for games.

Small room  He said he going to have a viewing range of 2-3.5m...

Have you tryed playing games on a TV under 26" from up to 11.5ft away..

Even on my 43" plasma i sometimes move in closer then 11.5ft to play games

What elitist tosh IMO, maybe not by just yourself, but the industry in general...a quick search on google indicates an optimal viewing distance of 4ft on a 36" screen LOL
So what, when we had 32" CRTs as being about the biggest thing you would have anywhere a couple of years back we where unable to use them at all to view games??? Unless you had your eyes an inch from the screen
Advertising media driven drivel of the highest order IMO.

Whoa...don't forget HDTV means you can sit closer without pixellation, and on a 42" screen ~10ft is the maximum distance to site in order to pick out all the detail of a HD game, as opposed to ~15ft for old-style PAL quality.

So technically he's quite right :p

He didn't say "omg you have to sit close" :)

HD signals mean "you can sit closer to see a larger image *without seeing pixellation* ", which makes it really cool - I think I'll be getting a 26" screen which I'll watch from around 8ft away, which should be just about perfect...but I can sit closer if I feel like it and still see a good image
