Please help me decide between these 2.For gaming only.

The only reason I'm not 100% on the 20" is it doesn't seem as good response as the 19" from what I've read, but the 1600x1200 is tempting but the excellent response of the 19" doesnt seem to be matched in the 20".

thankyou very much

it wont quite match the sheer speed of the VX922 but the VP2030B is still perfectly adequate for gaming for most users anyway. There's a point where the screens will be fine anyway, for instance if you find a 16ms TN Film TFT fine for gaming, you'd be unlikely to see much improvement in getting a 2ms modern TFT. Both are good screens. If you really want the fastest gaming TFT out there you'd have a hard time beating the VX922 right now, but if you want a much more all round screen and a bigger res / screen size, the VP2030B might be a better investment.

Just made my decision

I've just had to make exactly the same decision, personally I opted for the VX922, this is because I feel it's a stronger gaming candidate, it also has a better contrast ratio. I also don't really like the idea of a wide native resolution, call me a traditionalist, but I prefer the orthodox monitor aspect ratio :P

VP2030B is a 4:3 screen, i think maybe you have int confused with another model?

I'm looking at the VP2030B currently... need to make a call on this.

Basically looking for 1600x1200 (or widescreen equiv) support with decent refresh.

Put off the 2407 after reading the whole thread!

So now limiting the purchase to a decent 20" - I've got the VP191S and love that - so guessing the VP2030B will be as good if not better?

PS. main use BF2!

PPS. there is only one version of this one right? unlike the 191.

only one version of the VP2030B, it's pretty new as well :)

Superb! Thanks Badass :)

After reading a review of the GX2 seems I need at least that res to make best use of it... it's never ending is it.. ;)

DR let us know how you get on with the new screen :)

Will do - OCuk have just confirmed shipment in the last 10 mins (thanks to David for sorting that out) :)

Probably fire the monitor up before attempting the case move, and GX2 install.
Will let you know if its comparable to the VP191s or better. :)

Well I've always liked my VP191s... and the VP2030B is certainly as good, if not an improvement ont he VP191s. I mainly use this system for BF2, and the VP2030B is a definite plus over the VP191 - they seem to have sorted the minor back light bleed and the colour depth is better.

Like it a lot :D

Certainly no worse than VP191 for gaming, infact i think the colour depth and black light is better on the VP2030B.

Only issue I've had is a twice now, the monitor has not come on, seems a bit slow on initial boot up (after its been idle for a while) on recognising the computer is on (did it once with the 7800 512 and once with the GX2) - might be one of those cold start 'features' - but I'm monitoring it.

As for BF2, well, what can I say, 1600x1200 @ with all the eye candy looks damn good! :D And refresh wise is fine for me. It is still not CRT quality, but as fast TFT goes - very good. Couldn't really see any evidence of ghosting, even on dark on light (ish) colours.

As for quality - the stand and case in general both look and feel really solid (its quite heavy!) - but FYI, the stand foot print is bigger than the VP191 at the back cos it has an extra two 'legs' for support.

Very happy with this screen :D
