19" widescreen probs..

I have just bought a Hanns-G HW191D 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor from OCUK but i cant get the aspect ratio right. It is as if the screen in not in a widescreen format because ive got a big black bar on the right of the screen even on the full resoluition. I have got a 7800gt but I cant seem to find where I can switch it to a widescreen display. I have just installed the latest nvidia drivers but still no joy. Can anybody help

Is your desktop set to 1440x900?

Try reinstalling the GFX drivers.

yeah got the desktop set to 1440x900. I have also reinstalled the gfx drivers but silll no joy.

Is there an auto button on the monitor you can press so it adjusts itself?

yes i have tried this. It just puts the screen to the left with the black margin down the right hand side.

Very strange one indeed, I have the same monitor and just plugged it in and set the ress too 1440x900 and away we went.
Nothing in the nvidia control panel that is forcing a 4:3 resolution?

are you using an nvidia card?

I think it may be something to do with the drivers becasue when the computer boots up it shows a full screen.

I cant see nothin in the nvidia control panel thst is forcing 4:3

I plugged a friends PC in to my 20" WS (1680x1050) and it was set to 1280x1024, and there was no WS res for me to select in my display settings. However after changing the res to different resolutions it suddenly appeared in the options!

I have tried numerous resolutions and i still cant get it to function properly. :mad:

There is a program you can get that will allow you to add a resolution, I think its called powerstrip?
