Hi guys, i know this is a really old card, had this setup for 3+ years. it manages l4d,tf2 and pretty much any valve game at max graphics and runs at 80-90c.. (it isn't overclocked btw.) just tried playing the OPF2 demo and got a record:

I'm going to be getting a whole new setup in a few months.. was just wondering what these cards can take before they break

I had a x1900xtx with this same issue it was causing me artifacts in games so i bought a custom cooler which brought it down to 60 peak but i think about 1 month later it happened again, i think i might have been unlucky but from my experience it didnt do it any good.

Am getting a similar problem recently with a 1950 pro on my other half's machine.

I have gone through and cleared all dust (not that there was much), but it doesn't seem to have helped.

Only way to run it now is with the side off and a big fan blowing into the pc.

Is this a sign that these cards on on there way out?

Sorry for semi-hijack.

well i remember having the 1900XTX. beast of a card!! used to run so well. had it ages. and steadily the temps got hotter and hotter untill it was artifacting and getting to lyk 105degrees! so i had a look at the cooler and i couldnt see it!! it was a dust clump! so i blew it out with a compressor and it solved all the problems! ran nice and cool and could even get a healthy overclock :D
