i read somewhere that the memory is the same as the XTX and it can be flashed to almost the same card, is this true if so how and what are the risks

Only do this if you got the money to buy another card if something goes wrong...Because you loose the warranty on the card..

It's very easy to flash the bios,,But there is a very high risk with it,,

Surely the same affect is had by simply increasing the gpu and mem speeds
Excactly, try to get to XTX speeds by overclocking first, maybe it runs fine without flashing.

Only flash the BIOS to get higher core/mem volts if the overclock isn't stable.

how do you oc these if ati_tool is disabled?

Anyone noticed momentary glitches on your 2nd display with these cards - I am guessing its a small driver problem, more frustrating than anything - every minute or so on the same tft the windows task bar appears and then disappears sraight away, seems like there is an "orange" task just activated for one split second but nothing is ever there afterwards.

BIOS flash can also affect how tight the memory timings are aswell - why generally 6800GTs overclocked better (relatively) than 6800 Ultras as they had memory with slightly looser timings...
