Is this resolution really that bad on a 27"
I have the opportunity to buy my friends Hazro for £280, originally I was looking at the Asus VE278q or New Iiyama ProLite G2773HS 120Hz 27".

I read that 1080 looks a bit pixelated sitting at a desk on 27"

The sharpness depends not only on the pixel pitch but also the screen surface. It is completely a matter of opinion whether 1920 x 1080 is a comfortable resolution to work with on a 27" monitor. The Hazro has around 1.77 times as many pixels in the same area and also has a smooth (glossy) screen surface so it is superbly sharp in comparison to the other two monitors. If your friend's Hazro is in good condition and doesn't have any obvious defects then I think that is an excellent price and you should go for it.

It really depends on how close to your monitor you are, what you are used to and how good your eyesight is. Also, as PCM2 says - the screen surface can make a big difference too.

Personally, I use a 27in 1200p Dell monitor and I find it to be great. However, my eyesight isn't amazing and I have gotten used to the pixel density of this monitor now. I'm sure if you brought a 27in 1440p monitor of similar quality alongside it (like a Dell U2711 or Hazro) then there would be a clear difference in quality and sharpness of the images.

As for the Hazro your mate will sell you for £280 - it does sound like a nice deal. Though I would ask a few things before buying:

- Is there any dead/bright pixel or other pixel defects?
- Is there any trapped dust (if it is a glass version)?
- Are there any other issues with it worth mentioning?
- Will he be prepared to act as an intermediary if the monitor develops a fault and requires an RMA within the remainder of the 3 year warranty?

The Hazro is perfect condition as i saw it just yesterday. The price is very good. My eyesight is fine and id be about a 2foot away from the monitor.

Would hazro cover me now for the remainder of the warranty?
So is it an obvious choice of what to go with here

How old is the Hazro? I've had mine for 7 months and the glass has started slipping - it isn't exactly an uncommon problem.

Hazro (and OCUK) won't cover you if you try and RMA the monitor yourself - since you aren't the original buyer. However, if your friend is prepared to act as a go-between (he contacts OCUK, you send it off to them) then you could make use of the warranty - though they would likely ship the replacement back to him (unless he specified a different address).

As for the slipping, AFAIK this is only for the glass versions (do you know which version he has?) and you will need to send it back for an RMA to fix (if you try and fix it yourself then it will invalidate the warranty).

Was bought directly from hazro and it's the HZ27WC model. Which model is the non glass?

Hazro made two versions of the HZ27WC - the glass and non-glass. Both have the same "HZ27WC" model number AFAIK, though the glass version is the earlier one - with the non-glass version coming out a bit later after issues with the glass version surfaced after release. I believe they made both versions side-by-side for a while.

As for telling which version it is - it should be very easy on visual inspection. The glass version has a plane of glass over the entire front of the monitor (both screen and much of the bezel) like an apple monitor, while the non-glass is much more like a standard monitor with a glossy coating on the LCD panel.

Ah, it's defo the glass version. Can you link me to a non glass version, or tell me how i would know?

Lol, kh

1) Glass version = sheet of glass covering the whole of the front of the monitor
2) Non-glass version = no glass at all on the front of the monitor.

It really is that simple.

:D

If I was in your shoes I would wave £250 (in £10 notes so it looks like a big bundle of cash) in front of your friends face and say that is all you have.

So what's the advice, the glass version too risky?

It really all depends on whether your friend is willing to help you with an RMA.

If he won't then I wouldn't buy it - as these Hazros are known to develop issues.

If he will help you then I would buy it - as when it works it is an excellent monitor and if you have problems then Hazro will sort it out for you.

It's simple, but from peoples experience, the "sheet of glass" slips. But I wasn't asking what the difference was, i was asking which model has glass or non glass. So i want to know if its worth the purchase. Has it only happened on a few peoples, or a whole stock load.

or whether to stick with 1080 at 27" :D

My god man, just make your mind up. Are you allways this indecisive or are you not sure about that. :D

Play it safe kh and go for a brand new 1080p monitor as you sound like a worrier. At least you will have piece of mind plus you get some time to send it back if you are not happy with it.

Thanks but It's not about just going for a 1080 and being a warrior. I want to know I have something that I'll like and enjoy, and i Want to be sure about the resolutions, and if the hazros are a pain in the ass for glass slipping, i want to be sure about that.

cheers

I personally don't feel 1080p should be on 27" monitors. Sitting 2 feet away the image doesnt look that sharp, especially after using 1440p at the same size. If I were in your shoes I'd get the Hazro, your friend can help you with a future RMA if one is ever needed. so there is no worry. The only thing you have to remember is you need more graphicsl horse power for gaming :)
