What are the main differences between these two cards apart from £50?
It would be powered by a 380W Seasonic S12 so consumption needs to be low.
Is the 7900 worth the extra money?
 
Comparing a 7900GTX 512mb (not GTO, this is faster) with a 256mb x1950pro the 7900 is around 15% faster on average (30-35% in some but only 1% in others). But keeping in mind the x1950pro is £50 cheaper they are fairly even.
 
Basicly a 7900GTX for £190 is always going to come off the better. The x1950 is a great card, but not as good as the GTO. A general rule I use is get to the best I can afford. If you can afford the GTO then go for it.
 
I've just ordered the GTO for £180 delivered. Can't go wrong really especially with it being more difficult to find now.

Gonna need a new PSU for it though it's 400w minimum on the back of the box :eek:

380W Seasonic jobbie should be fine, mine runs over GTX speed on my 350W shuttle PSU (with overclocked 4200x2, 2x1Gb RAM, RAID0 Seagate 7200.10s and DVD-RW).
 
I am starting to have my doubts now though. the last thng I want to do is buy a new PSU. I only just bought that one a month ago (expecting not to be used as a gaming pc) :rolleyes:

Back of my 7900GTO box says......

"Full HDR Support ...."

And my experience of F.E.A.R with AA on was perfect....
