Delivery

BK35093 was delivered on the 9/12/14 I planed on removing the whole interior and replacing it with the interior out of the Silver 540i returning BK35093 back to its original specification.

We had only put around 10 miles on her and she seemed drive all right, but was hard to judge as the wheels were just delivery wheels. There was a small vibration, but at this stage we where still learning about BK35093, and the long road to recovery.

Great cars, I've developed quite the liking for the E34 over the years as my neighbour has 9 of the things (7 x 3.8 M5s (2 of which are the LE versions)), a quite rare 540i touring (with auto box) and a 525i.

Subscribed.

Update
(10/12/14)

After having three of these before and being winter, we wanted to protect these as the last owner said there was Zero rust issues. so the first task was to remove the sills covers and rust proof.

After removing the sill covers and a visit to a local garage we realised it would need welding and more then just light M.O.T welding so at this point, we went stright ahead and removed the interior and carpet.

He also pointed out there is a fuel leak by the rear axle..

On a plus note while BK35093 was on the ramps we found out both front and back anti roll bars are Ac Schnitzer items with Powerflex bushes including the axle bushes.

Update
(11/12/14)

Because of the weather, we decided to change the steering wheel and instrument cluster starting the process of restoring the interior to its true former glory.

On removing the rear bench we were greeted with a scene from the Titanic and the smell of an 1970s Ford Escort, It looks like BK35093 has a leak from the rear boot area the battery area was wetter then a ducks belly alone with the sound deadening.

https://youtu.be/i6jLuThKuEk

I don't know how the drips got there either

The battery compartment was dryed and the weather was poor so we would find out more the following day

.
Lucky for BK35093 the water ended up in the battery department rather then the electric department that lives just over the prop shaft tunnel.

This made the interior swap more urgent then it previously was.
On a more positive note, the interior is looking better already with the original steering wheel on BK35093's and original cluster

I love e34s, they're so modest and understated compared to the modern five series'; they've not got anything to prove.. I also think they're really well proportioned.

Jeez, it looks like someone parked it in a lake for four years!

Beautifully built cars, too. Own one (if you haven't already)!

The silver one looks to be much nicer than the new black one?

Do like e34 though, v8 6 speed is definitely the one to have, can make mint drifters out of them :D

Huh? Throwing stars were on M5's not 540i's...

When I owned it, back in 2009, it had Throwing Stars on it :)

It wasn't immaculate by any stretch at that point (it had done 180k, among other things), but it was a very serviceable car and quite presentable.

It does, I assume it's worse underneath than the black one?

I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of restoring the black one exceeds the cost of getting the silver one repaired, it looks in quite a sorry state.

Christ, is that Lashout's old one? Why do people let cars get in such a sorry state? :(

Sure is mate:)

Throwing stars are gone. :(

Long gone before we took ownership..)

Stars come factory on M5s :)

Silver 540 wasnt all that bad underneath just the cost of repairing was just to much and when bk35093 came up for sale as rust free it was just the better option at the time.:)

Great car Lashout, looks fantastic, albeit now over six years.

Agreed.. back on track to its former glory..:D

We really needed to test drive BK35093 with good rubber, So we set about swapping over the wheels from the 540 auto to the 540 manual. On removing the wheels we decided to have a look around the archs

I will not ramble on much but let the pictures do the talking.

We didn't take any after photos as the sun was blazing on that particular day,While looking looking at the callipers we did noticed the pads would need changing.
