I just bought a new Asus A8N-SLi Premium and 4400x2 together with 4 1Gb OCUK Value ram sticks. Now from reading the manual for the mobo it says it doesn't support 16 chip ie 8 chip dual sided DDR sticks. Which the Value ram is :(

I haven't tried it yet but is this a guaranteed no go? If so I won't open the other pair of modules and will just send them directly back to ocuk. I went for the value stuff as I have no intention of clocking this machine so didn't need anything fancy. I also note that very few of the sales descriptions on OCUk actually specify how many chips are on the module???

p.s If you think I'm being a little greedy with 4Gb, it's because I want to run XP64 and use this machine for Development work, and things like Visual Studio 2005 are real memory munchers.

Ok m8, I will try it with 2Gb first using the ram I have opened. The manual said that it was due to the cpu not the motherboard. Was this a problem with earlier x64 chips that may now have been corrected?
