1GB Geil Value newbie question

hi everyone - been out of the loop for a few years since building my system but the time has arrived for some upgrades! Currently running:
Athlon XP 2400
MSI KT4 AVL MotherBoard
256mb pc2700
I intend on overclocking the chip to around the XP3000 mark hopefully and wish to buy some new RAM in the process.

Now my MB states it supports a FSB of 333mhz and the mainboard supports ddr400. However, only selected modules! Yet i am looking to buy the 1GB geil value for from oc, but the recommedations on the msi website are outdated.

Is this memory compatible/a good option for what i intend on doing?

Thanks in advance

you'll find ordinary ram/value ram usually works on most mainboards, its performance ram that they usually get picky about. Try the geil website, it might have some app/menu somewhere that you whack in your mobo details etc to tell you if its compatible or not.
All motherboard manuals say only selected modules are supported btw.. :)

The stock timings for the memory is:
3200 - 2.5/3/3/6
2700 - 2/3/3/6

It's something like that anyways. So you can run it at the same speeds of your CPU with no problems, the slower frequency is taken back with tighter timings.

Welcome to the forums. :)

I think the Geil Value works in just about every mobo, ive got the DFi LanParty RDX200 Crossfire which is very picky about Ram, as are all DFi boards i think, and it works perfect on there, ive got the 2gb kit. :)
