Reet, its it worth getting the following ?
GeIL ONE 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 BH5 CAS1.5 (GOW1GB3200DC) (MY-055-GL)
To go with my Geil One TCCDs 2x512mb ?

I'd have 2gb although via 4mem sticks ! I want to upgrade to 2 gb as most of my games run abit juddery and i've got a sub 3 gb opteron 146 and a 1900xt and an NEC wgx2 20.1.

Or I'm i just flogging a dead horse in trying to retain my Geil One TCCD's ? Don't really wanna spend a fortune as am2's are hear and DDR 1 will be history very soon.

Any advice given would be appreaciated,

Thankyouverymuch !

No doubt about your current 1GB of ram is the bottleneck in your system as far as games are concerned at least. You should be able to get away with that memory config suggestion although you'd have to 2t instead of 1t which does carry a performance penalty. I'd personally sell the geil and get a cheap value 2gb kit, it shouldn't cost any more overall than your current plan.

That seems the all important question really - a 2gb value kit or a premier 2gb kit. I've got 2x 512 MXCPT2 in mine and I deffo need to get another gb in there as things are starting to judder a little. Question is though, do I go mad and buy what I want - 2x 1gb 3500XMSCPT2 or just go for the 2gb corsair value? Do I really need to go mad if i'm not going to be overclocking madly?

Setup is a 939 3500 @ 225fsb on cool n quiet, very stable. Thats as far as i'm going to take it.

Sorry for Hijack btw ;)

No.

I wouldnt mix BH5 with TCCD, to get the most out of BH5 you need to put a fair few volts through them, with the bh5 you're looking at 2-2-2-5 @ DDR500 with ~3.4/3.5v and active cooling. The TCCD does slacker timings and doesnt like those volts, it'll kill your tccd basically. If you're going to add another 1gb kit, make sure its the tccd stuff. Although it's been discontinued so you're a bit stuck. You could always try to pick another kit up second hand, but then 4 sticks will put a greater strain on your memory controller, limitting your mem oc. Personally I'd recommend selling your current kit and going for a 2x1gb kit, which would allow you to run cmd rate 1T

If you're happy with your system for the moment except for the memory, it's a good time to upgrade as people will be jumping ship to AM2 and DDR2. You'll be able to pick up some tasty second hand bargains. I'm looking to upgrade my 512Mb of PC2700 to 2Gb in this fashion, so I don't mind flogging it a bit at 3v for a month or so. I've got an almost identical 146 sysyem btw running at 2.8 Ghz. I'd love to have 200Mhz+ memory too, as this system is cleary capable of a lot! I just need to get a new CPU cooler and get 3Ghz+!
