Hi

I'm currently using G-Skill DDR with 2.5-3-3-6 timings clocked at DDR480. I was wondering wether I *** get any performance increase with 2GB. Only thing I've noticed is that the 2GB kits generally have looser timings.

The main thing that makes me ask is dat I've being trying out Vista l8ly and have noticed although for many things it seems better then XP, then at points (entirely random points) it struggles and heard from someone that its recomended to have 2GB for Vista.

At current I'm only using about 500MB at most when running windows (More when gaming of course, but they all seem to be running as good as if not better den in vista).

NE1 got any idea bout dis?

hmm I'm using a similar system to you. I went from 1gb OCZ plat rev 2 at 1t-2-2-2 to 2gb at i think 1t-2.5-3-3. It makes a big difference in Vista, I'm using 64bit version where it can use up 600mb with no games running. You'll see a slight performance loss when benchmarking but then in games like say wow you'll get almost no HD thrash etc. I'd do it again.

Thanks for that.

Gunna borrow my m8's 2GB kit 2nite and see if dat gets Vista runnin smoother.

R U on a Mob M8?

No? Then please don't use text speak. It's really hard to read.

There are many 2gb kits with timings that are just fine.

I've got a G Skill 2gb kit and I'm running the exact same timings as you at DDR 496

Same here also went from an OCZ Plat. Rev. 2 1Gb to a G.Skill HS 2Gb kit and it makes a lot of difference in games although the timings are higher and it doesn't oc nearly as good as the OCZ.
