Here's the story - I've got 2 pairs of corsair twinX, - CMX ####-3200C2PT - 2 sticks with ####=1024 and 2 with ####=512. so basically I have a 1Gig pair and a 2gig pair.
But, one of the sticks from the 2gig pair is borked, and just doesn't work, hundreds of errors in memtest86 etc.
I was just wondering if I'm better off running just the 1gig kit, in dual channel mode (gets vista score of 4.5) or running the 1gig kit + the good stick from the 2gig kit in single channel (vista score 2.3)
I use the computer for gaming quite a bit (Supreme Commander just came out
) and A lot of just surfing, emails, media etc. I guess it's only really the gaming that will be affected though.
So am I better off with the faster 1Gig or the slower 2Gig option?
As for getting the borked stick replaced, unfortunately it's about 2.5 years since I bought the 2Gig kit and it seems I've lost the receipt, which is a shame because I've heard corsair comes with a lifetime warranty
and as for how it broke? I have no real idea - one day i was playing guild wars, entered the fissure of woe and the pc just died and rebooted to a BSOD and never booted again with that stick in it.
