£1k for digital video and digicam

Please recommend me some things. Have a budget of £1k to get a decent video camera and digital camera. I don't know where to start!

Camera must have a decent flash. Videocamera must be able to transfer to PC..preferably by firewire (for mac)...USB too if that's possible.

Saw a decent looking Sony camera in the shop the other day...was small, black..and about £600 or so.

Help please!

Trips out mainly with my work (school). Filming a trip to France, taking pics of the teachers and kids; that sort of thing. Then editing the video on a Mac.

Went for the Sony DSC H5:

and the Sony HDR HC3:

Should do the job. Just a smidge over 1k and had some free DV tapes chucked in. Can't wait to have a play.
