My graphics card died tonight... HD7970.. so I had an idea to upgrade a few other components as it's been a while. Currently got i5 3570k/8GB DDR3/P8Z68.

I've been out of the spec know how for a while... back in the Winnie 3k days I knew everything haha.

I already have a newish PSU - Corsair RM850i. What would be the best £1k spec for mobo/cpu/ram/gfx/case(important to look cool, if everything fits then midi size better I guess?)/fans/lights if needed.

Really I only play Dota 2 and sometimes CSGO on my PC so if money can be saved on the graphics that should be cool.

Thanks!

Do you have any preference to AMD/Nvidia? Freesync or Gsync?

If not, I'd recommend the 5700xt. My brother has one and loves it. You could get the 5700 instead, for a small saving.

What res you playing at?

If your using the PSU you currently have then that's a bonus as you can save around £70-£100 so Id go for something like this:

Ryzen 3600
MSI B450 MAX motherboard
16GB 3200+ mhz RAM
5700XT
Sabrent Rocket 1TB Nvme

You may want to change some components I'm just putting a rough guide out there... You may not even want Ryzen :p

If you literally only play CSGO and DOTA why not just replace the GPU? They're not demanding titles, an RX570 would be ample for either, or wait until the new 5500 cards come out in November.

Or do you think that with a more modern/powerful system you'd want to actually play other games?

No preference but seems most recommend AMD. Yea 5700xt is popular just not sure if it would be overkill. Res is 1920x1080.

A friend of mine recommended Ryzen too so was thinking about it already. That's the kind of spec I was thinking. Yea got PSU and SSD too actually.

Other games are definitely a possibility, but I recently had to change the PSU cos it failed now the gfx, feels like it's only a matter of time before I would need to upgrade the rest anyway so might as well do it together.

That looks good, very good. Got a SSD already actually so could use the money saved on something else. Looks like this mobo is recommended a lot too. Will play around with this.
