Does anyone use this , or something similar. I have so many passwords now to all kinds of things I find my self using the same or variations of the same.

How good are these password apps. Are they secure ? What about if the data gets corrupted ?

I've tried a few and I've ended up with 1Password. It works across all my devices - mostly OSX, Windows, and IOS - and integrates directly to the browser so I don't have to keep copying/pasting passwords between windows.

Only downside is it's a bit pricey I guess.

I'm also using 1password for the same reason as above. Its the most seamless one (IMO) as it works with IOS, My Windows PC and also my Mac. Syncs to dropbox and also there are plugins available to create and store passwords from browsers.

I remember my main ones, then for other sites, I just use 'forgotten password' every time I visit, to generate a new random one

KeePass user here, sync'd using dropbox on android and windows. I love the chrome plugin which populates username/password fields automatically. Actually quite scary the amount of information I have in there!

Used keypass for years. it's only downside is making sure I have it available when and where i need it so keep a secure passworded copy in my Skydrive... then i run into syncing problems sometimes.

Would like to use an online one.. but you never know.

Is that using chromeIPass? I tried using it for a bit but I found it wouldn't fill in fields consistently so I changed to WaterFox and I use KeeFox which works perfectly.

It is - i've only had problems with 2-3 sites out of 50+

If an online password manager uses decent client-side encryption (with a strong password, needless to say), I doubt if it would be any more vulnerable than a Keepass data file stored in SkyDrive/Dropbox/whatever.

I'd be more worried about possible browser exploits - you have to enter passwords in plaintext if you want to use them, regardless of whether they're encrypted and stored online, stored locally or just written down on a piece of paper. Not much you can do about that though, apart from obviously keeping on top of any security updates.
