Went down there full of expectations for a sunny'ish day with good light.
The show started at 11 and the sun went home at 5 to, thick grey cloud all afternoon, at least it kept dry.

Love the first one and the second to last... :)

I'm not fond of the grey cloud, however as you said at least it was dry for you!

Nice photos, better than mine turned out, but i didnt expect much from my camera.

Really dissapointed with the display though tbh, worst year ive seen in the last 3.

Nice pics mate. Love the one of the tonka at the end
Tonka...haha, know what you mean! Thanks.

I thought it was poor as well, hoping to go to RIAT next weekend though but only if summer starts!

I like the first one, nice timing. Did you get anymore of the string bag? I didn't make the photocall day in the end, it doesn't look like I'll make Fairford tomorrow either :(

Thanks, yes I got some more of the string bag I just haven't processed them.
I ducked out of Fairford yesterday!

Cool, I look forward to them :)

I was supposed to take the family there today, but a 3 year old all day in the rain ain't gonna be fun! I'd like to go on my own still, but instead I'm taking my daughter on her first trip to the cinema... Ho hum!

Did the red ones crash in the first picture?

:D it's the Red Arrows dong a cross over, it's part of their display :)

Really great shots there.
Thanks

Nice, did you try a lower shutter speed at all?

My grandad flew these in the war, I'm determined to catch them at a show somewhere!

I knew you'd ask that:D
I was using a 500mm F4 and I felt unable to wield that monster hand-held at a low enough shutter speed. Maybe I should have tried.
Do you know about your Grandads service in the string bag, locations, actions etc. ?

:D I usually take some at a high shutter speed just to make sure I get some shots, then I just go for it with lower speeds.

Sadly he was based in Singapore, so didn't do too well. He's no longer with us, but I believe he never bought a Japanese product... His camp was just up the "death railway" line from the actual bridge on the river kwai. He never talked about it.

Somewhere (I hope not lost) is an air to air shot of him and a wingman, which also has squadron details around the photo. I keep asking my dad about it and hope to get my hands on it so I can carry out some research.

Of course when I was a kid in junior school I told everyone he sunk the bismarck! :D
