Hi, Got myself a new PC this week and have been trying to get it OCed. Specs are as follows.

Abit IP35 Pro
Q6600 - G0
4x 1Gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer - PC-8500
Asus GeForce 8800 GT
Antec P182
Arctic Freezer 7 Pro
Arctic Silver 5

I've got it stable at 3402 Mhz (9x378) and setting Vcore to 1.3575 and Vdimm 2.1 in the BIOS.

From the image below I have a few questions:

1) Are these temps typical for the Acrtic Freezer (I fitted it with the board in the case and wasn't too happy as I found it quite fiddly, I feel I may need to re-fit outside the case)?

2) With Vcore set at 1.3575 in the BIOS and CPU-Z reporting 1.27, is this just Vdroop and is that sort of difference typical for this board?

Anyway TIA, and thanks for the tips I've gleaned so far just browsing this forum!

Thanks for the reply Andy. I used the AS5 after cleaning off stuff that came on the cooler. I should have time at the weekend to take the motherboard out and make sure I reseat the cooler properly.

In the mean time I've backed off to 3096Mhz and dropped the Vcore and temps are now down to 61-59. I know I should be able to get better than this, although ultimately I doubt I'll reach your speeds on air and still keep the temps down to acceptable levels. i.e. where the fans don't have to ramp up too much! :)

Just a quick note to the OP: You're using speedfan for the temps. Have you already added 15c to each of the core temps or not?

Speedfan doesn't calculate correct temps for the Quad core yet.

I'm using the beta of speedfan which I believe has that issue fixed, at least, it's reporting the same temps as CoreTemp.

I re-fitted my cooler outside the case and put them back in, temps are down slightly to 65,65,62,62 running at 3.402Ghz (9x378) vcore at 1.3757. I've heard the AS 5 needs a few days to "bed in" so I'll leave her like that and see how it goes. (BTW idle temps are ~ 39,34,32,34)

Well I couldn't resist and I've ordered the Tuniq Tower. I'll use the clingfinger method to apply the paste this time rather than the line method. But the question I have is this, should I use the paste that comes with the Tuniq or stick with the AS5?

TIA
