I want a pretty good all round computer, but I want it to be very good at gaming and graphical processing. I have some things already, nothing major though:

Case: NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Full Tower Case - White
DVD Writer: Super WriteMaster S-ATA 22x DVD Writer LightScribe
Hardrive: not sure of the actual name but its a 500GB Samsung make.
Operating System: Windows 7
Fans: 5

I have my birthday coming up so some of the things I need I can ask for then, but the things I don't get I'm willing to spend up to £100 on each part, apart from the graphics card, which I will pay up to £200 for.
So if anyone could give some input as to what kind of processor, power supply and graphics cards I would be very grateful. :)

I know that Intel is faster than AMD, I have seen loads of benchmarks on them both but would I get better value for money with AMD, and would there be any noticeable differences between the two in real world performance.

I dont want to spend more for a system that is going to run a bench 2 seconds quicker than one that is £50 cheaper.

Thanks for all the replies so far, been very useful.

no lol, i was away for a bit, and how would it compare with a G.Skill RipJaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit [F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM]. because that was my initial choice.
