Should be fine, corsair released some nice low 1.5v ddr3 kits that worked fine in the older i5/17 range, most ram kits for that generation were rated at 1.65v. Very good price on the vengeance there too. Tempted to add another 8gb into my setup.
 
yea, i've just taken my stupid cap off and looked again at the corsair webpage

not sure why i didn't see that first time round.....been a long week!!

edit: and just checking heights, i can finally fill the ram slots beneath my trusty ven x!!! :D
 
Should fit grand mate, the ven x is one of the better coolers for ram clearance. If that kit on offer had been the blue one, id likely have bought it. Im a bit fickle about colour co ordination, sad i know.:o

i was the same for a while, but chopped and changed my mind so much about which colours i prefered that i've given up now. there's a red green blue theme going on in there now!!
 
May go ahead and order it anyway, be a shame not to at that price. Although ill need to get some thermal paste as well. Be impossible to fit a new ram kit in without removing the cpu cooler.

i'm sure i've some as5 and ic diamond paste laying round if they are any use to you mate
 
Maybe take you up on that if i cant find any in my bits and bobs drawers mucker. Went ahead and ordered another 8gb, best to strike while prices are low.

no bother. yea it would be just rude not to grab some at that price. just means i'm now going to have 4 x 2gb sticks of ram laying in a drawer!!
 
Always handy to have tbh, ive still got a few triple channel kits left aside for my i7 930 system, (ditched the 920 for spec in sig). It currently has my old high end reaper ram in it, but i still have some corsair kits that arent even used.
 
very true. i suppose if something ever went wrong with the ram in the rig i'd be glad of them. plus i'm gonna have to get my finger out and get a htpc/media build sorted for the living room and a couple of those sticks will be going into that.
 
I could actually do with downsizing my other system tbh. It's barely used much now except for a bit of video encoding. Got another bf3 account on it but it hasnt been used in months.

must get back onto that with the other folks, been tied up on WarZ lately.

I keep promising her in doors that i'll sort out a build for the living room as her laptop is for the scrap heap. Recently won the Asus F2A55-M LE motherboard in a comp on here so don't really have any excuses now! needless to say it's my funds build her system!!
 
Just an update on this mate, got the ram in and installed. Didnt have to remove the cooler. So you should be fine with the vx. And thanks again for the kind offer of the paste.
