Hello,

Just did my first few rounds of CSS in my life, and I'm disappointed, the game is way more annoying to play than bf2, compared to this bf2 is a charm to play.
My 1st round, I'm being shot @, So i automaticly pull to the left to get out of the opening, then some idiot goes @ me saying he'll shoot me next time I block his fire.
Ok next round, I go the other way, and all the time these flashbangs are exploding in my face, it took 30 seconds for all of them to stop, damn do all servers have these, if not, can anyone recommend one that doesn't?
This is imo way more annoying compared to the bf2 claymores, artillery, and stuff.
I think it'll be back to bf2 again for me.

Still, ill give it another go tomoz, anyone knows any good CSS server for a noob, wich isn't used to be blinded by flashbangs every time and a server wich doesnt have idiots wich take the playing way too seriously. Just nice and easy and enjoyable?

I'l be trying Insurgency mod soon, my mates say its good.

Snowdog - It will take time to get used to the game, keep playing it. The idiot who said about blocking his fire, don't worry, theres like 1 in every 200 who say that sort of stuff.

Flashbangs - When you see one coming towards you, turn 180 degrees, it will wear off enough after 1 or 2 seconds for you to shoot back.
Remember to walk (default is shift) when you are going round corners blind etc etc.

I didn't really like it at first, but it really is a brilliant game.

CSS is a good game :) Don't worry about your score, and don't take it so seriously. You have to be very aware of others in the game, too - you'll find it very annoying when you're shooting someone and a teammate gets in the way!

Also, flashbangs are just part of the game. If you see one land, look the other way and go somewhere safe. Of buy your own flashbangs to retaliate :p

Finally - shoot in the upper torso or even better, the heads. And don't hold down the mouse button ;)

CSS is totally different to BF2... BF2 is slower, team-based, whereas CSS is more of a free-for-all tbh, just shoot, wait, spawn, repeat :p Both can be fun, both can be very very annoying (although BF2 is usually annoying because of poor balancing//suicide jets/bugs etc, IMO - whereas CSS is annoying because so many other players are better than me... lol).

Yer people like that can be annoying. It's because it's your first time.

Over time you'll learn how to avoid certain places at certain times, when to expect nades and flashes etc...

Comes with experience and game sense, I'm not sure if I could play just public anymore. For the first six months I played public and then joined a clan, another 18 months later and I'm still at the same clan enjoying the competitive side to the game in ladders, leagues and cups. I want to go with my clan to lan at some time too, maybe i32 or more likely i33. It's much better when you have some friends which play at the same time and who you can talk too though, guide you through.

My steam freinds is - Kingy

GL & HF :D

Heh, funny i should find this thread, i played again today for a little while after not playing for months, i was never a big fan to start with, but i thought i would give it another go.
All it seems to be after an hour of playing is, fine the corner of a wall, aim down a corridor, chuck a flash bang, and move anything that passes within that little half a cm gap while holding your gun at head level....
Needless to say i got sick, i will stick to BF2 but im going to try that insurgency mod now.

Roast CSS and play Insurgency instead :) BF2 meet CSS and its a free mod too :D

Only thing it has in common with css is the crappy tables/barrles with the poor physics.
I would say its more like a dod/bf2 sort of game.

Oh and yea Css sux.

Was a bit better on a smaller server, my 1st game I popped in a server with 50 players or so on dust2, now with 20 players it's much better, still get 1 kill per 8 deaths, but I suppose I need more time to learn.

Will look into that mod.

Oh your Mr.Happy aren't you :p anything else you wanna moan about instead assisting in this thread?

Yeah Snowdog, I wouldn't bother going on 50 man servers which are full.
Look out for servers with 5 a side or so, I think its much better with smaller numbers (10 a side max)

CSS is pretty good fun in a scrim or playing like 5 a side with m8's. But really I can't seem to play the game. I am good at it but I get bored after like 2 rounds. It gets too repetative. Theres always only one goal, theres always one rule theres always one outcome. It gets boring. Games like COD2 lighten things up. Deathmatch would get boring since it's over and over. But adding things in such as CTF and S&D modes makes the game so much more long lasting and keeps you playing.

Each to their own but I got bored with it. BF2 on the other hand isn't boring because of the vast amount to do and theres lots of vehicles and maps etc. Stats also keep it going.

Why is everyone using this dirty americanised word instead of good old "war" or "pcw" nowadays? It sounds stupid.

Because back in 2002 in my SOF2 days that was the word for it

CS is much quicker than BF2. Smaller maps and more about working as a team. Public play is only 1/3 of the game.

In public you have to watch your own back, don't rely on the guy behind you.

Playing deathmatch will get you upto scratch with your aiming.
I keep going on and off of CSS.
Everytime I come back after a few months I have a few hours at that over a few days and it more or less comes back to me with ease.
You will learn to adapt to the game, and how to avoid getting flashed etc, its all appart of the learning process :)

Have to say having not played CS for 3 years and recently buying HL2, CSS brings back all the old memories and is still a great game :)

CSS and BF2 are very different games, the only similarity is that they are FPSs.

Personally i prefer CSS compared to BF2/BF2142 because CSS is more about skill and you can always handle something if you are good enough whereas BF2/BF2142 you are always getting blown up by vehicles and artillery strikes and whatever...well maybe thats just me :p

If you wanna avoid FB's, let some teammates go first, and be ready to backtrack. :) Each member can only carry 2 FB's, so once they're gone, they're gone.

Also, when using them yourself, try to not teamflash. ;)
