Hi

Just recently purchased the overclocked I5 750 @ 3.6ghz bundle from here, along with a 5750, corsair hx650w, amongst other things and just after a bit of advice, please.

I have set up all the stuff in an old case for now, just so I can run tests, etc. I noticed the cpu vcore was 1.3435, which, from reading around, seemed a little high, so I dropped it down to 1.275. I ran prime 95 blend test (I have never used this before as never overclocked) and twice during the test I got the display driver not responding/recovered error. I know that this can be a few different things, but I upped the vcore to 1.278 ( I think) and ran prime 95 again, for peace of mind. It's been running for nearly 24 hrs now, without any errors that I can tell, checked event viewer and no display driver errors, so far.

Looking at prime 95, I can't see any errors, as I say I have never used it before, so is it immediately obvious if it shows an error or do you actually get bsod or something?

I have also downloaded core temp and cpu-z. Cpu-z showing correct speed of 3.6ghz, well, just over. Core temp is showing temps between 56-58c, I do have the side of the case off, however, as it won't fit on with the zalman cooler inside! I presume this is ok? The temps seem quite a bit different to the temp shown in the bios, but I am presuming core temp would be more accurate?

The motherboard is an Asus P7P55D, is there any way of saving the overclocked profile to a usb drive or something? I am a bit wary of messing too much in case I lose the settings!!

Sorry for the long post and basic questions!

You will know right away if you get errors in Prime as one or more of the worker threads will stop.

I've had that driver stopped responding error several times myself when I've been testing for stability, and it's always been because I was not using enough vCore, if you've ran it for 24 hours and it hasn't errored at all then I'd say your o/c was stable.

You might want to give LinX or IntelBurnTest a blast as well, I personally find that it will tell me whether my overclock is unstable sooner than Prime95 does.

Try for 20 passes of LinX/IBT using all available RAM, a mixture of this, Prime95 and general day to day usage is the best way to test for stability..

Regarding your temps, they look just fine mate.

I'll give LinX/IBT a blast.

Excellent, thanks for that.

I have a P7P55D LE and there is the option of saving BIOS Profiles (up to 8 I think).

Can't say I've tried it myself so I'm not 100% sure how it's done.

I'll have a quick look at it now.

It looks to me as though you can save the profiles in the bios as it were, I think this is the case anyway. I was just wondering if there's any way to save the profile to an external location in case of bios update, etc.
