Me and my kid are planning a pc build instead of upgrading his current one. We probably won't put it together ourselves but want to choose the components.
Budget wise will be £1000 - £1200ish.
All he knows at the moment is he wants a Nvidia GPU and probably an i7.
I know its probably a broad question, but where do you start .which bit do you choose 1st and build round. Are some brands better than others ect. .. thanks .

Why not phone Overclockers and they can custom build you one.

What monitor do you have
He's been using a small samsung TV for the last couple of year. He's got a decent keyboard, mouse ,headset ect. So that will see him right for a while till he gets a monitor. I've been playing around with there websites build tool I just always end up way over budget ... just after a starting point to build from ..

For example an i5 or AMD equivalent will save some monies for a better graphics card
His pc has a i5 4670K 3.40GHz @ 4.50GHz Ivybridge in it at the moment. What would be a good upgrade from this. It will be 1080p gaming to start with. But would like it to be able to handle more if required in the future.

Thanks for all your help everyone. This all started with him wanting to just update his GPU. He wanted a 1660 but there priced so close to the 2060 it made it a hard decision. I'll post his current specs as we didn't think it would would be worth using anything off his old one. And a new build would be better in the long run and we could give this to his little brother.

As for us building it. We might. It's just a bit daunting with everything so expensive .I do have a mate who might give us a hand so that would save a bit .

Or if there is anything worth using out of the old system I'm sure he wouldn't mind reusing it to save some cash..

Thanks everyone. I'll look through the options with him tonight .
Just out of interest. Could anyone put a price on his old set up. Incase he wants to raise some funds instead of being a good brother. I know it's an old system, but it's been faultless since he got it and runs Fortnite perfectly.:D
