1st time gfx card overclock - advice

Have done some CPU overclocking, but thought I'd give gfx card overclocking my 1st try...

EVGA 7800 GT Stock frq.: 445 core, 1.07 mem.

Downloaded coolbits, running Forceware 84.21.

I did the "Find Optimal" bit and it returned core of 498 and mem of 1.17. Decided to be on the safe side so set it to 480, 1.12. Test changes button, and it was fine, clicked on OK and was rewarded with a blank screen and a reboot, then got the "Windows has recovered from a serious error" message on restart.

Haven't tried since.

Any advice?

Try at 460 and leave mem at stock or clock the core up 15mhz at a time.

Ive clocked my 6800GT to 400/1100 and it did it no problem, i used Rivatuner to clock mine and it seems like a good program. Maybe try Rivatuner see if that gives you better results.
