Ive got a 6300, ds3 and 2gb of geil 6400 ram.
Im using easy tune 5 from the mb software (is this programe ok, as the others i tried all said my mb is not suported)

Ive increased my ram voltage from 1.8 to 2.1, and when i increase the fsb to 315 it is fine, any more and the computer just reboots and the original is restored.

I have read the beginners guide to ocing but dont know what voltage to increase, the cpu voltage and then increase fsb some more?

Couldnt i just raise the fsb to around what other people have got instead of trial and error to make it quicker, or is that to risky?

Thanks

I'm surprised you can't increase the fsb any more on stock volts tbh. Personally I would forget about easytune and use the bios. What cooler are you using and what temps are you getting?

Sounds allright, a tad high if that's the temp easytune reports, but nothing disastrous - I would suggest using CoreTemp which will give you a higher temperature but should be more accurate for knowing how hot your cpu actually is. If they go much over 60 then it's definitely worth looking at lowering your temps.

What VCore does EasyTune give you? I believe stock for an E6300 is 1.325, but when I look at EasyTune's advanced mode it only shows 1.31 by default. If it's only @ 1.31 I would try upping it to 1.325

(too many confusing sentences in that post..)

On easy tune5, it shows

cpu:
fsb 266.00
voltage 1.25
ratio 7

and memory is 665.00
and voltage 2.00

Im guessing the voltage i should increase is the cpu voltage to 1.325?

edit: the vcore was at 1.2 in the bios, so i changed it to 1.325, ill raisw the fsb and see what happens

Will i have to change my memory timings, at the moment they are on
5 5 5 15?

Ive been looking but cannot find where you change the ratio as mine is on 4:5

cpuz shows 1.312v

to change mem timings go to the main page of the bios and press ctrl+f1. Then go into the M.I.T. The 6400 is rated for 4-4-4-12 (unless you have the expensive 3-3-3-9 stuff) so I would set it to that. You should be able to take it quite a long way on those timings but if you get a massive overclock you might need to loosen them to 5-5-5-15

oh, the ratio is the 'memory multiplier' in the bios. I would stick with an x2 multiplier (1:1) to start with (and probably to finish with)

Ok got the core speed up to 2.55ghz. Temps are still high 30's. Going to do some testing and then maybe tomorrow up the fsb a little.

Im guessing that my voltages are fine as i only want to go up to 2.8ghz?

Thanks for you advice!

Congrats ;) - As you can see from my sig mine is only @ 2.5 - tempted to push it further but I'm happy with what I have and my memory is overclocked as it is. Thus I wouldn't really know if you need to push up the voltage at-all. It's a case of trial and error really if it won't boot, as long as you up the voltage in small amounts.

And don't forget to run sp2004 orthos to test stability when you get where you want. edit: now I read 'going to do some testing'.. that's probably what you meant.
