Hi all,
Have had my new rig up and running for a week or so now and really want to get into OCing it, only trouble is i have never overclocked before and have no idea where to start.

Heres what i have..

Intel C2D E8500 3.16ghz + TRUE 120 black.
Asus Maximus II formula
Corsair Dominator TWIN2X8500C5D 4096MB DDR 2 CL5-5-5-15-2T
Sapphire Radeon 4870 1gb.

I dont want to have it running at the limit, 4ghz is a good number for me.

I have read the beginners guide to overclocking but am still none the wiser really!

Any help would be much appriciated!

Go into Bios (spam delete or f2/f8 or whatever it is at start up). Find the menu with all the cpu/ram settings and voltage etc, it's usually under 'advance', 'jumperfree configuration', 'M.I.T' etc. Look for 'cpu frequency', it should say 333. If it's greyed out, try setting one of the options above it to manual. Press '+' on the 333 number until it reaches 400. Press f10 and then enter. If the pc boots into windows, stress test it and see if the temps are ok and if it's stable. Then if it is, keep raising the fsb slightly (5-10mhz) until it fails, then up voltage etc etc. 400fsb initially, that chip should get 3.8ghz with little tweaking.
