Been out with my shiny new Manfrotto 681B & 486RC2 ball head. Very sturdy bits of kit. Not too heavy and more practical to cart around than a tripod.

Anyway some samples, all taken with Sigma 100-300 F4 with 1.4x converter on.

Had a bit of a play with a couple of them, any comments or suggestions welcome

Thanks for the comments.

The bird in the second shot is a Dunnock, a quite common bird that is easily confused with a sparrow (well it is by me anyway)

The second and third shots were of taken at the edge of a pond so the background was mostly mud. I tried to do something to make the more interesting and took inspiration from my not completely sober state :D

Shutter speed were around 100-150th of a second and all at 420mm f8. Based on previous experience I doubt these would have come out without my monopod so money well spent I think.
