1TB External

Why would you want such big external HDD anyways??

You can make backups on internal drives, or get 2hdds in RAID1.

So I have all my stuff backed up AWAY from my PC and so I can take it anywhere.

I thought raid 1 made things slower and I heard raid is a bit bad on the P5K?

Basically I'm going to get an external just need to know if people think getting a ready made one (I.E, the WD MyBook) or putting one in an enclosure is better and faster (Should be using eSata)

Also, would people have a 1TB internal drive over two smaller drives (640GB for instance)

Cheers again, Doug.

depends on the exact pricing etc, when i bought mine i went for the wd 750gb over an internal and a caddy as it worked out cheaper (on offer i think) and since its just for storage i dont need it to be amazingly fast.

If it works out cheaper allways go for internal + caddy, otherwise if the speed of the drive isnt a major issue get a branded pre made one imo.

I would get a single 1TB drive instead of two 640GB drives, mainly because you will not have to plug two different drives into your PC and also if you were to take the data somewhere else it saves you carrying to external hard drives.

I would go for the samsung F1 and a IcyBox if you want very good performance, the samsungs are the best 1TB drives around.

Ordered a Samsung F1 1TB for inside the PC & another to go into an Icybox;)

Also ordered another Icybox for one of the 250GB's to go into :D

Cheers very much for all your help!
