Is there any difference between the memory that comes in pairs, compared with buying two sticks of the same memory?

Yes, they're matched pairs which means they come from the same batch/chips - so should run together without any hiccups.

It's advisable to buy dual kits so you don't run into compatibility problems. (although buying unmatched modules even different brands isn't the problem it used to be - as long as the spec is the same/similar).

Basically, you're eliminating a possibe problem buying matched pairs...

The one's I am looking at, it works out £5 cheaper to buy the two sticks separately, than as a pair.

If you can stretch to £29 the these are very good value - link - especially if you can make use of 1600MHz
