So final part of my upgrade is upon me and the question is

1x MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 2048MB @ £229

or

2x Asus GeForce GTX 560Ti DirectCU II TOP 1024MB @ £179ea (1 now SLI in a couple of months)

I'm confused about the whole 1Gb v 2Gb of VRAM.

I play at 1920x1200 and trying to sort myself out for the likes of D3, Skyrim and GW2. I wont be playing BF3 which is where a lot of the debate around VRAM seems to have started.

Finally its going in a i5 2500k on a P8P67 Pro system

Any thoughts appreciated.

I always recommend single cards, so 6950, though that being said a 570 can be had for £250 if thats in budget

Reason for single cards is
- less heat
- less noise
- no SLi/Xfire issues
- no micro stutter
- by the time you come to add a 2nd, its often better to sell current card and get a new single gpu again

The ATI is a bit faster than the 560 ti overall (but there's not a great deal in it). Either card should handle those games just fine at that res.

I doubt you'd need to crossfire/sli either - and multiple cards adds it's own set of problems.

I'd be tempted to get a 2GB card, particularly if you are thinking of modding Skyrim. (although remember, there's no mods yet!)
