2.0 system needed.

What would you guys recommend? Don't want to spend more than €300 but if there is something that is worth it l am willing to spend something more.

I am planning to use my Essence STX to power the speakers. Originally bought it to power my headphones but l think it would drive a 2.0 system with no problems, too.

Music will be the sole use of the speakers, so what do you guys recommend at that price range?

Hi mate with that budget I hear the Audioengine 5 are a good bet. However Id get a hi-fi amp and speakers. For that kinda of money 2nd hand you could grab a nice rotel/nad or cambridge audio amp, then put the rest to speakers. Essence->Amp->Speakers and you got yourself some fantastic sound!
If you wanna buy new just pop down to your local Hi-Fi dealer and tell them your budget.

Yes, as Oldskool said, for that money you can buy some nice stuff, aslong as you have the space for a amp. If you have no room for an amp and are looking at powered speakers, as mentioned the A5's would be a great purchase.

I also have an Essence, which is my media PC. Bought an Audiolab amp and some Wharfedale 9.1 speakers to connect to it. Amazing the amount of volume they can chuck out, and to think I was looking at floorstanders once. Really brings a smile to my face.
