A pal of mine is selling his 01 plate 2.0 TDCi Mondeo Ghia X estate (115) and said I could have it for £1200. Its done 88K, had the DMF and clutch done in the last 5K, new starter motor and the bodywork is being touched up to remove minor dents and scratchs before its sold.

Currently I do around 10K per year, however I'm hoping to get another job soon which will increase my yearly miles to around 18-20K.

Am I considering a duffer or should I get it snapped up?

Some more info I forgot to post, his dad bought it from new, he's had it for the last 4 years or so. Essentially I know of the car from new and no major accidents or anything nasty to report.

I was considering a Focus as a Mondeo estate is quite large, I currently drive a 1.3L Fiesta. I had a little test drive from Chorley to Preston this afternoon and apart from the usual Petrol > Diesel clutch/accelerator differences (I learnt to drive in a diesel), it seemed to drive great. The insurance is a little cringeworthy over the Focus 1.6's I've been looking at as I only have 1 years no claims but not too OTT.

Sound advice, thanks. Just asked him now about the injectors, fuel pump and glow plugs and all been sorted apparently, I do know it has been properly serviced and looked after in general.

An update for you all, I bought the Mondeo and picked it up today. The MOT had an advisory for brake discs, so had these and the brake pads replaced. First impressions are awesome, much more power than the paltry 1.3L 1998 Fiesta I used to have.

Had fun reverse bay parking earlier, just took extra care due to the extra length. I've seen the DMF and clutch receipt so all is in order - just need to keep an eye on the injectors. Doing a 5 hour trip to Great Yarmouth in the next few weeks so will be much more comfortable and with cruise control :)
