Hi,,

I'd been looking for a set of 2.1 speakers for a while, and was going to jumpon the corsair 2500's, but just missed the BF deal.

Just wondering if they are the best bang for buck at the price range? They are a little more than what I'd like to spend, but will try to stretch my budget if there is no better options?

Main usage will be for gaming & music, playing drum & bass / reggae / hiphop.

best bang for buck is the 2500 and they are EOL I have one more shipment for sure.

After that i'll pick up what stock I can till they are all gone.

RIP SP 2500

Do you have any info if Corsair are set to release a replacement, or are they moving out of the speaker market?

Really surprised theyre moving away from 2.1's. SP2500's are just too good. Actually having thoughts of buying another set to keep incase my current ones die.

I have more on order and I told corsair i'd be happy to help with all their remaining stock.

But it will be EOL sometime in the not too distant future.

I've always wanted a set of these but living in an upstairs flat I think I would drive my neighbours insane - hence the headphone obsession :D

Specifically for music, I prefer my Microlab Solo7C over my Corsair SP2500 no contest, but the Corsair is better suited for close proximity use as desktop speakers for general medias and gaming.

I use my headphones for music, so would mostly be for TV, movies and gaming as my TV doubles as computer monitor

OK, so my SP2500's arrived, I set them up, and to be honest, they sound crap. If I turn the volume up to an even moderate amount I get distortions of bass, which sound like they are coming from the satellites. I've heard these speakers do better with a decent soundcard, I'm currently using one of these, would it actually benefit the quality that significantly if I purchased a better soundcard?

At present I see no alternative to an RMA, which I really don't want to have to do, hoping i'm just missing something here.

Which input you using and what kind of settings you using on the control panel? And what bass level are have you set it as?

The one thing about this set, is that, you don't get bass distortion. Check your EQ's. A soundcard does infact make the set sound better, but I've used it multiple times on my laptop and iPhone with superb results. Have you tried playing back music from a different source like your phone?
The satellites aren't really capable of playing lows, so bass distortion from them wouldn't be possible unless its faulty.

That's what I was thinking, I'm suspecting possibly a defective crossover. I have a pioneer DJ controller, this has a built-in soundcard, I'm going to plug this in tonight and give it a try, see if any difference is had. As per last post - what levels do you have your sub / volume at please?

Never set my sub in the red region as its too much for what I listen to. Program is at none and EQ is reference. My volume varies with how I'm feeling, can play it at 1 bar or all the way to the light blue bars with no distortion at all.

EDIT: And my volume on devices (PC sound, iPhone etc.) is always set around 50%

Ta - I have my pc volume @ max - this may be causing the clipping of the satellites. I know I was hearing distortion when my volume was at the last bar below the blue, I certainly could never go into the red without maybe damaging the speakers, or I wouldn't want to try.

I'll re-try setting my pc volume at 50%, and see how they sound, many thanks if this is the cause :)
