Hi Guys,

I have an issue, i have just moved into a new house and i currently have the Creative Gigaworks S750 7.1 surround sound with the Sound Blaster X-FI Pro sound card. However the walls are hollow and the sound is just too loud. I have just decorated and was thinking of soundproofing but then i just though i only really want clarity of sound rather than surround, mainly used for music and some gaming so i figure il just invest in a decent 2.1 setup and flog my 7.1 system.

Can anyone suggest any good 2.1 systems for around £250 ?

Cheers,
Turboduck

save your money bud and get yourself some Creative Gigaworks T40 2.0 there about £75 and have plenty of grunt in them, have a pair myself which like you i use for music and gaming (fps and rts) there a cracking set of speakers

Cambridge audio A1 amp + Wgarfdale Diamond 9.1 speakers come to about £220 new... it would be my choice for music/games (or at least and amp and 2.0 hifi speakers).

Or save some money and get the Aego Ms.

Aego M are supposed to be really good and i'll be buying them later in the week.

Another vote for the Aego M, have had it for over 18months and it's one hack of a good setup for the price - not as good as an Amp + bookshelves but it's a heck of a lot better than any 2.1 setup for the price.

I would avoid the Bose system, it's decent system but for the price, there are better ones like the Aego M :p

thanks guys, i really want very good sound quality, i dont like wires as they are a pain in the ass to hide the only problem is the sub cannot be too much as i said the neighbours will moan as the walls are very hollow :(

So im pretty sure il be getting just 2 speakers now but would like sound clarity, was thinking of maybe the below? Any suggestions ?

Bose are overpriced for what you get, the Aego Ms will compare very well against those while costing under half the amount.
The speakers/amp I suggested would probably be a fair bit better while offering the ability to upgrade in the future.

Best suggestion so far in my opinion.

If you are just after SQ you need a hifi setup such as the one RaiKiri linked to. Personally id go second hand, and get something more SQ'y than the setup he listed. The diamond 9.1's are great, get a better amp than an A1 and you are sorted.

Having read several 2.1 speaker threads and some online reviews, I bought the Aego Ms for my better half as a birthday pressie, hooked them up this morning...

She is quite taken with them, the sound quality is awsome, yet the left/right speakers are tiny (~4x2x4 inches)! :D

wow, if you want sound quality why are you even considering a Bose system? Bose are overpriced, poor sound quality, low quality, cheaply made, with cheap parts.
Also wireless isn't very good. Look into a second hand stereo integrated amplifier and some bookshelf or standmount speakers. way better than any commerically available PC speaker system.

I'm using some Hi-Fi/AV gear for the PC audio system, sounds great. About £1300 worth of gear
