My 2.1 Logitech speakers have stopped working. I'm not sure when this happened as I've noticed it reverted to my monitor's inbuilt speakers which are quite good.

The audio jack does make a noise when I touch it and reseat it. The computer doesn't recognise that any speakers are connected. I've checked Device Manager and uninstalled and reinstalled the Realtek drivers.

I have had these for about fifteen years though and they cost around £30 but it's strange how they don't work.

Windows not recognising that something has been plugged in, to me that suggests that the problem lies there, not with the speakers. Speakers or headphones don't need to work for Windows to recognise something has been connected. You could plug in a cable connected to nothing on the other end and Windows would still recognise something has been connected.

Anything else you can try the speakers with, like a smartphone or a tablet just to confirm that they are working or not?
