2.16Ghz MBP + 1080p .mkv

Hi I'm trying to play the latest Eve Online trailer it just will not play, keeps freezing/dropping frames. The audio plays fine.

I'm using VLC and have always had problems with files like these, is it 2Gb RAM causing the issue, in not having enough? or the 5400rpm HDD or is it simply a case of not enough procesor speed?

Only got Safari open and VLC.

Just tried it on a 2.4Ghz MBP - it plays fine.

Tried installing the latest VLC application?

Most defiantly not the hardware behind the dodgy playback, I'll hazard a guess at low HDD space or VLC not playing ball correctly or both. :confused:

Thread revive I know, but did you manage to fix it? Do you have the Core Duo, or the Core 2 Duo?

Have you treid Flip4Mac or Perian to make the file play in QuickTime? Plays fine on my lowly 2Ghz Core2Duo MacBook.

I have the Core Duo 2.1ghz Macbook Pro with 2gb Ram and them files play fine for me

Well I have a 24" imac now hehe, that plays them fine, I think it was something perian would have sorted
