hi guys

would you have 2.2 than 2.0 mondeo?

i'm looking at 3 years old mondeo 2.2TDCI (200) titanium automatic (powershift) with 50k miles for 9.5k. is the price ok?

cheers

well, i do 15 to 18k miles a year.

i drive 2009 focus 1.6 zetec. i get between 29 to 31mpg. i think its time to get a bigger, more comfortable to drive, more power and auto. diesel is only 3p per litre more than petrol.

i dont want a car that cost more on fuel than the focus.

if i get 35mpg on the 2.2tdci 200bhp auto then i'll be very happy :)

i drive a lot in city, if i get 29mpg from 1.6 petrol then 2.0l 200bhp petrol will drink even more. sorry i simply dont want to spend more on fuel.

i feel diesel is more suit for my need.

What you do need to look out for then is the potential that you won't do enough of the right kind of miles to let the dpf regenerate. Your mileage seems pretty much fine for a diseasel but if you're not doing enough constant speed motorway running it could be asking for trouble.

May well be the case that a small petrol is actually about the safest thing you can have. Or perhaps a small capacity turbo petrol.

i have thought about smaller turbo'd petrol engine like skoda rapid 1.2TSI (102bhp) but i love mk4 mondeo. its big, heavy and very comfortable to drive. that got my attention.

small turbo engine in big and heavy car = big fuel cost

what sort of constant speed is enough?

other option is skoda octvica 1.2TSI with DSG gearbox but i think they dont drive well as mondeo

15-18k of city mileage? I doubt it unless you're a taxi driver. My usage is probably 70/30 urban and motorway driving and my average is currently 30MPG.

The 2.2 TDCi Automatic is not a PowerShift transmission.

It uses an Aisin AWTF-80 SC conventional autobox, which Ford call the AWF21. They're not a bad autobox, generally reliable but they are a very compact design and a bit of a nightmare to repair if they go wrong (although so is a PowerShift).

I think I'd go for a 2.0 TDCi 163 with PowerShift I wanted a diesel auto. I'd take a 2.2 over a 2.0 with a manual though.
