Hey.

Well currently I have two 22 inch Samsung monitors (1680 by 1050) sitting next to each other that are plugged into my XFX 4890 XXX.
I was under the impression that I would be able to run a resolution of 3360 by 1050.
However, using my CCC I am able to position the monitors in the way I want them (side by side), but I only have the options of either "Extending" or "Duplicating" the monitors, there is nothing that I can see that would either merge, or stretch the monitors to get my desired resoltion.

Anyone have any solutions for me?

I have some bad news for you......you will not be able to run the resolution you require with just that gfx card alone.

The Eyefinity is on the 5xxx series of cards and this groups the monitors together and then gives you the required resolution.

You could try and use a third party software application such as UltraMon, but have never used this, so cant comment on how effective it would be for you.

Have, however, had a brief trial of Eyefinity with my 2 current monitors and have to say it is great. Am curently in the process of saving funds and convincing wife that i need another 2 24" monitors then will run it properly

Do you want to run games on them as one big screen (with bezels in the middle) or do you just want to have a big desktop and windows spread between the monitors?

The former isn't possible with your monitor using standard settings (as Shelster says), however the latter is perfectly possible - it should be the "Extending" option in CCC, which should be similar to Nvidia's "Dualview" and extend the desktop over two screens - but games will only play on the primary screen.

Thanks for the quick replies.
I mainly wanted the large resolution, so I could have a larger area to work in with my video editing software (since spreading the interface over 2 screens at 1680 by 1050 looks wierd), but I also wanted it so I could try larger resolution gaming, but it seems then that I need a 5850

If your video editing software has several windows within the main one, then you may be able to run in 'extended' mode, and spread all the different windows across the screen real estate. I do this when using PhotoShop.

Unfortunately for the larger res gaming, then the 5xxx series is the only way ahead.

You could possibly try a Matrox Triple Head unti, but not sure how this would be with ony 2 monitors attached and think they are comparable in price to a 5xxx series card, so woiuld recommend getting a new card as you are ready to enjoy the delights that DX11 will bring.
