2*2G or 4*1G DDR2

A lot of people have had trouble with the evga boards on these forums, think im just very lucky. Rev 1 board too. I've got no complaints myself.

I see.

My dilemma is this.
I want to be able to overclock the hell out of my quad and can't currently (at least not the fsb). If I get an EVGA 680i, chances are I will have to rma it and wait a week or 2 for a rev2 board that can overclock the quad. If I get a P35 board I get a cooler running board, with excellent quad overclocking. But I loose the ability to go SLI.

<edit>There is one other factor, the Dell system I have is based on a 590/570 chipset and will run 4x1gig sticks no hassle at 800mhz plus, but has a memory voltage limit of 2.1v and Crucial recommend 2.2v. I think this is limiting my overclock. I borrowed some generic 667mhz ram, and straight away 3.6ghz on the quad with 300mhz stable fsb with a 12 multi. So that was the reason I got the Corsair 4gig kit...it's recommended voltage is 1.9 to 2.1. Then again, I would prefer a custom rig as the board is not really upgradable until their 680i board is released in a couple of months.</edit>

Seems the EVGA board is the one to get then, and the Asus boards suck. That's good to know. In fact I know more people which have problems with Asus boards then EVGA, and the more I read about overheating nb's, boot issues with the asus 680i boards, the closer I am to getting an EVGA or possibly the new Intel P35 if I ditch my 2nd G80.

At least I still have the 4x1gig sticks Crucial 6400C4.
Might be time to send the Corsair back..still have not arrived. Should have done my research.

as far as i know the EVGA A1/T1 revision is the only 680i board with the revised & improved C55 NB

if you need SLI the revised EVGA is a great board.

Most boards should be the rev 2 by now I would have thought. I could have swapped mine within 3 days (rang evga in germany), but just wanted my comp built. Thought i'd end up regretting it, but everything is fine (luckily).

I wont be going quad for a year or two anyway, and by then there will be newer better boards out anyway. Only just gone dual core, not in any rush for quad.
